As Regulators Warn of AI "Hallucinations" in Financial Guidance, Financial Finesse's Closed-Loop AI Earns Fresh Industry Recognition

PR Newswire

Chief AI Officer Edwin Jongsma named to Financial Narrative's 2026 AI Leaders List; company selected as a finalist for Personal Finance Tech of the Year in the 2026 US FinTech Awards, with winners announced November 19 in New York City.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly half of consumers worldwide, 49%, have used AI to guide a savings or investment decision in the past six months, according to the EY Global AI Sentiment Survey of more than 18,000 people across 23 countries. Most of those tools have no way of knowing whether their answer is right, and no obligation to say so when they're wrong. That gap between confidence and accuracy is now a real regulatory concern. For the first time, FINRA (the regulator that oversees U.S. broker-dealers) has added a standalone generative AI section to its Annual Regulatory Oversight Report. It tells firms to build controls against hallucinations and warns that "autonomous AI agents may require novel oversight." Separately, new EU AI Act compliance rules for high-risk financial AI systems took effect this August.

Edwin Jongsma, Chief AI Officer at Financial Finesse named to AI Leader's List by Financial Narrative.

Financial Finesse, the company behind AI financial coach "Aimee," built its answer to that risk before regulators flagged the issue. Aimee is built to diagnose employees' most pressing financial challenges and guide them to concrete next steps, offering personalized, ongoing coaching and reliable answers to any financial or benefits question. Every answer is grounded in content and tools developed and maintained by Financial Finesse's team of CFP® professional coaches, proprietary Action Agents specialized in common questions and challenges built to mirror Financial Finesse's proven coaching methods, and each employer's own benefits documentation, never the open internet. Every interaction also includes a direct path to a live CFP® professional, so AI serves as the front door to guidance, not the final word. That closed-loop design continues to earn recognition, most recently on two fronts:

  • Financial Finesse was named a finalist for Personal Finance Tech of the Year in the 2026 US FinTech Awards. The company won the same category in 2024.

"We've watched for years now what happens when AI is left to improvise with someone's money," said Jongsma. "We never let it. Every answer Aimee gives is grounded in CFP® coaching logic and a client's own benefits documentation, never the open web. That wasn't a guardrail we added once regulators started asking questions, it's been the foundation from the beginning for us."

Financial Finesse says that discipline shows up in outcomes. Across 8.2 million employee interactions in 2025, employees using Aimee inside an integrated Financial Wellness Hub were far more likely to be on track for retirement (38% vs. 21%) and to hold $1,000 or more in emergency savings (50% vs. 34%) than employees without it, according to Financial Finesse's Financial Wellness Think Tank™.

Nearly half the world is now asking AI for help with money. Regulators are only just starting to ask how that AI decides what to say. Financial Finesse's two recognitions this fall point to where the industry is headed either way: not away from AI, but toward AI that has to show its work.
